WHY THE WHITE DOVE HAS BROKEN WINGS

One day I saw a white dove flying, soaring to the sky It dances against the wind of time just to reach Mt. Olympus… her palace! Other gray doves wanted to accompany her but she always commented with deep conviction,  “No and I’m sorry for I can’t afford distractions at this time of the day. I must always keep flapping my wings.”   Clouds turned from cirrus to cumulus. Each flap of wings made her higher and higher  So other gray doves can’t reach her. They say, “She’s unreachable.” She heard them.  Clearly.  Like an echo that so deafening. It shot an arrow across her heart. A bull’s-eye! That’s the time a feather dropped from the sky.   From then on, I noticed a difference from the way the white dove flies. From just looking straight ahead like a telescope, she glanced back and forth. She’s looking everywhere. Searching. But she never stops from flapping her wings. Still the same intensity. Still vigorous. Still hard but graceful.   But on the 6th day o...

WAIT FOR ME!

Give me time to get out of my shell Because I struggle to be part of the ordinary. I do not open easily  You will probably need a drill and a hammer. I like hiding in the attic Because there you cannot find me. I am a mess and broken like fragile chinaware.  And I try to fix myself with glue, Even trying to laminate the torn pieces. To pretend I am shiny and new. I might feel happy today and friendly And tomorrow I might be gone again And you are wondering why I am different  It is not because of you! I cannot be a good friend because  My world is different than yours. And you might give up and hate me And people gossip too!  You might listen and believe. It is fine. I understand. It is always like that. Life is full of drama! I am scared of people and I don’t like them. I can live in Mars even in Neptune So nobody will be there. Saturn and Jupiter are also appealing  Might make me feel safe there. Earth is my la...

Body Worlds Vital in Auckland

Image
Can you see the different muscles? The man here is carrying his skin The guy/girl holding his/her heart Plastination is one of the most controversial things when it comes to medicine and the healthcare field. However, it is also an innovation that helps healthcare professionals understand the human body. I found myself wondering that if back in college while studying Anatomy and Physiology I would get better grades if I was given a chance to see Body Worlds Vital. Learning Anatomy and Physiology is hard since you only visualize things by means of looking in your black and white book. Internet is not yet popular and only rich people can have access with it. Aside from that, it is hard to grasp what the book is saying. I am always a mixed learner. I learn things from experiencing, seeing and hearing things. Anatomy and Physiology is hard to learn because everything is so familiar (its your body!) but so alien because you cannot see its complexities. When your prof...

World Overshoot Day #MoveTheDate (Sustainability)

Image
I hope Mother Earth will still be like this even after a thousand years... Browsing the Internet, I had a glimpse of the phrase, "World Overshoot Day." Now the curious cat in me wandered and googled away. And tada! I found out that it is actually something that everyone should be aware of.  World Overshoot Day is a day the earth resources, which is good for one year, were already consumed by everyone. It means that the earth has not yet recuperate itself from all the resources that we have used and yet we still need additional resources and so we borrow from next year's supply. In due time, there will be no more resources left so we have to find another world (sounds like the sci-fi movies). If I use an analogy, it is like I'm borrowing from the bank because I already spent all the money I had for the year and I will continue and continue to borrow until the bank will not lend m e anymore because there is no more money left of the bank so I need to fi...

CAVEAT EMPTOR (Let the Buyer Beware)

Love…love…love… Pervasive and ubiquitous. Albeit it’s an impeccably wonderful topic to discuss, I always find myself having second thoughts about it. Not because I am sarcastic or vindictive, it’s just that love is a very lofty word. Past and present writers of nobility haven’t even managed to explain its true worth. So how am I supposed to give justice in scrutinizing such noble word? I am frightened that I may desecrate it and that my effort will be put in vain. But, I decided that I should try my best to write about it so that I could allow my heart to breathe again. Because I am now drowning with a magnificent emotion and I need to release it now or else I would embark in this life like a bomb. Any moment I could explode in midair and pieces of my body will plummet directly to hell’s pit. And that would be the end of all. Love. Some people restrain it. Others celebrate it. Few deny it. But the question is how do you know it? Affirmative, it is always present. From God’s ult...

It's Beyond My Control

“But no matter what you do that seed will grow into a peach. You may wish for an apple or an orange but you will get a peach.” This adage came from the movie, “Kungfu Panda” and it hit me directly to the face. As a human being equipped with the capacity to think and act, we have created an illusion of control. We believe that the newly washed black t-shirt dried because we put it directly to the sun’s warm rays. We think that the rose bloomed because we planted it. We acknowledge that the fish we cooked tasted perfectly because we marinated it overnight. We are happy because the person we chose to love loves us back. We have deceived ourselves that anything that happened to us, everything that manifested in our daily lives and all the things that existed are the mere result of what we want and have been under our constant manipulation. We have become the master manipulator of life. Thus, we have believed that everything beyond our control are accidents. On the contrary, THERE ARE N...

Morningstar at The PumpHouse Theatre

Image
THE WAR IN HEAVEN HAS JUST BEGUN!!! One of the plays that was advertised by The PumpHouse Theatre was entitled, "Morningstar." When I saw it, I said to myself that it is a unique play that I have not heard of. This is the first time that this play was acted upon in a theatre. So, the curiousness heightened and I forced Ronald to watch it with me in June 2018. The story centres around the angels in heaven and their building issues with one another while their father was away. The timeline of the story started after earth was created and the Father has left heaven and nowhere to be found. The main setting of the play is Heaven and Eden.  Caveat: Spoilers Alert!!! If you have not watch this play... Please do not read this blog. I found this play unique and controversial in a sense that Lucifer was not portrayed as the devil. Although there is already a TV series that show that he could be good, there has not been any play that revolves around that stor...

World Press Photo 2018 in Auckland

Image
Car Attack by Ryan Kelly ©World Press Photo 2018 Auckland Currently, I am involved in a lot of Nature Photography. I enjoy taking creative shots and getting the perfect photo that will make my soul jump for joy. I spent time appreciating the earth's beauty through looking at different photos in Instagram and Facebook. I admire photographers who are artistic and who can capture the best photo there is. I always visit museums and art galleries to get inspired from the works of other artists. Being so optimistic and ideal, this hobby of mine makes me happy and contented. It provides me a sense of belongingness with others' passion for arts and beauty. Luckily, I was able to win a double pass from Auckland Zoo to go and visit the World Press Photo Exhibition in Smith & Caughey's at Queen Street after I gave a comment in their Social Media Account. (Thank you very much Auckland Zoo. I did not expect I would win.) The experience I had was life-chang...
