To Kill A Mocking Bird

Taken from: https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/books/to-kill-a-mockingbird-by-harper-lee/

A cherished story about a tomboy, matured-thinking girl who likes to question things around her. This book is a Pulitzer winner, meaning it's a masterpiece that stirs peoples' soul. Upon reading this, I am moved unfathomably because it speaks of stuffs concerning the human race. Discrimination, Choices, Revenge, Fears, Inequality, Rape, Change and Growing Up. It is a classic of modern American literature.

MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS
Atticus
The perfect father. I love him because he allows his children to learn. He reads to them every night. He treated them maturely (that's what children love). He gives them freedom of being independent. He allows them to grow in the embrace of morality and righteousness. Moreover, he is a loving father.

Jem
He is a caterpillar who underwent metamorphosis to become a beautiful butterfly. Yup, I witnessed him from being a boy to becoming a young gentleman. I do hope that I could be like him, someone who has started to grow to his full potential. He is a good man because his father developed him to become one and he chose to become one too.

FAVOURITE LINES

  1. Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird.
  2. Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's garden, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird.
  3. I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.
