Naturalism
Naturalism is the a kind of philosophy where NATURE IS THE SUPREME TEACHER. When I heard of this definition, I agree immediately because of the root word. Moreso, when we say of naturalism it means that the learnings should be coming from the present day life. It does not include the learnings that are on books or in schools which is quite disappointing because majority of the things that I learned came from it. The book, "THE HUNGER GAMES," can actually be one of the best examples of Naturalism in the sense that most of the challenges to the children who are undergoing the game came from nature and the present day life and that they must overcome it . This would also support the idea that the UNIVERSE IS A HUGE MACHINE because the challenges given to them are all created in a systematic way like that of a clock. In every hour, there is this kind of challenges given to a specific location. This book was already made to a film. I actually recommend this book. It is a good read.
When Dra. Sevilla taught us Naturalism, she also emphasized that one of the fundamental principles of it is that NATURALISM DOES NOT BELIEVE IN GOD. It does not believe in ideal or supreme values. This would support the idea that it is fully materialistic and that everything is mechanical. I believe that Naturalism has good points but I think there are also principles incorporated in it that I do not believe in. First and foremost, I believe in God. Second, I think there is an ETERENAL TRUTH and lastly, I also believe in the importance of the past and the future.
