Sociology Class - Random Reactions

Mafia uses ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR in their organization. 
Mafia is a big organization. Their size does not bother their ability to exist in the world. Wherever country you go, Mafia has a contact person. This ability, according to Dra. Sevilla, surfaces because they observe behavior. They follow a system that is very organized that leads to big goals with maximum efficiency. I was shocked and also awed by the fact that almost every human behavior, decision and  reaction are able to be explained by SOCIOLOGY. 

Machine Model: Rational System
I do not like this model because this actually compares humans as organism without a heart. It allows top management to treat each and every employee as things and as somebody who is irreplaceable. It demeans the value of being a human. I am thankful that most organizations that I know of have not have this kind of system.

IGLESIA NI KRISTO
According to Dra. Sevilla, people who have Iglesia ni Kristo as their religion are good Christian. Why? Because whatever they do, even their job in their workplaces, they observe the Christian Values that they learned from their religion. That is why most of them are good employees. I realized that as a Catholic Christian, I need to be like them. I will try my best to be good even if it is hard to be good, to be undertanding even if it is hard to be understanding and to be kind even if it is hard to be kind.

POLITICIANS ARE GREAT IN THE ART OF GOVERNANCE
Of course, politicians have the ability to lead and to decide for the common welfare of everyone. They were elected because they know the tupsy turvy of things in  politics. They are good in advocating for the masses. They are amazing when they give speeches. They give most of their time for their countrymen than their families. They are good people with big hearts. However, if the time comes that they become corrupt and selfish, everything changes. They become the opposite. I hope politicians would remain ideal. 

MACHINES ARE NOT 100% RELIABLE.
I have watched in youtube that by 2013, scientists and engineers would have already come up with a computer that has the same ability comparable to human brain. I was a little indifferent about that. I don't know if this is true but if it is true, I am doubtful. I do not believe that change is the oly permanent things in life... Because mistakes are also parts of life. If machines would be 100% reliable then it is perfect. And what the cliche would always tell us, "no one is perfect," I believe that if people are not perfect neither are machines. Humans only created machines. Therefore, machines are not perfect.

LATENT FUNCTIONS OF EDUCATION
The latent functions of education are:
  • Restricting some activities
  • Matchmaking and production of social networks
  • Creation of education gap
I have not thought of the latent functions of education. I am more aware of the Manifest Functions. However, after listening to the lecture I realized that most of the latent functions were actually more of the life-changing events. In school, you can actually meet the love of your life. You can find here your best friend, your soulmate, your partner or your wife/husband. The school can give parents time to work and to socialize. The school also allows people of certain age change from one state to another. Latent functions can be positive or negative. Depending on the consequences, education is a means to develop the society and the people who live in it. 

MEDIA'S EFFECT AMONG CHILDREN

According to the lecture, the average child watches two to four hours resulting in the agressor effect, the victim effect and the bystander effect. I, myself, can relate to this. Having a mother who is a career woman and having no yaya to take care of us, I am exposed to television a lot. Fortunately, I was able to watch shows which were all recommended by the DEPed. I was able to watch Hirayamanawari, Bayani, Sineskwela, Princess Sarah, Cedie. I think I was more exposed to the VICTIM EFFECT because I was more of the bullied kid in school. However, I have learned to stand up for myself and to protect myself. Media really has a great effect among children. Because of this realization, if the time comes that I'll have my child, I'll be able to be more attentive in giving time allotment or time restriction regarding watching television.

Morningstar at The PumpHouse Theatre

THE WAR IN HEAVEN HAS JUST BEGUN!!! One of the plays that was advertised by The PumpHouse Theatre was entitled, "Morningstar." When I saw it, I said to myself that it is a unique play that I have not heard of. This is the first time that this play was acted upon in a theatre. So, the curiousness heightened and I forced Ronald to watch it with me in June 2018. The story centres around the angels in heaven and their building issues with one another while their father was away. The timeline of the story started after earth was created and the Father has left heaven and nowhere to be found. The main setting of the play is Heaven and Eden.  Caveat: Spoilers Alert!!! If you have not watch this play... Please do not read this blog. I found this play unique and controversial in a sense that Lucifer was not portrayed as the devil. Anne Frank in Auckland War Memorial Museum

Auckland War Memorial Museum is currently showing an exhibit about Anne Frank entitled, "Let Me Be Myself - The Life Story of Anne Frank" which was supported by The Holocaust Centre of New Zealand. This exhibit is free if you are an Auckland resident (you just have to have a proof of address like an Auckland Library Card, phone bill or any identification with your address in it like your Driver's License) or if you purchase a Museum Entry Fee of NZD 25 for International Visitors or if you donated any amount for New Zealand Residents. It is accessible from 10am up to 5pm when the museum also closes. For the parking, there are numerous free parking spaces in Auckland Domain but for a certain time period. Teddy Bear Museum in Seoul, South Korea (BEAR WONDERLAND)

Teddy Bears would always be a child`s best sleeping buddy and even sometimes, his best friend. I fell in love with Teddy Bears when I was in High School because of its texture, appearance and its company. Yes, I am a self-confessed late bloomer. My teddy bears were all baptized. I have given them names and I even talked to them before I go to sleep.  Although, most would say I am psychotic for that matter but talking sometimes to an inanimate object was actually a stress-relieving activity. Bear Cuddler was actually the craze when it comes to Teddy Bear store before. Together with Blue Magic, I would always dwell in the parameters of SM Manila and Robinsons Place Ermita to look at the different bears displayed in crystal clear windows that would be very expensive to the allowance given to a high school student. Paradise Indian Food in Auckland

  Our Take-Away/Take-Out Ronald loves Indian cuisine. It is because he loves spicy food. No amount of spiciness can make him cry or perspire. This is the reason why whenever we order food I cannot share it with him because I cannot eat it. A craving for Ronald means finding Indian food which is indirectly proportional to me because if I say I'm craving there could be a zillion things I could be craving for and he would be devastated in figuring what I want. The predicament I have when he said he is craving is that I cannot cook aunthentic Indian food. Hoyts in Wairau Park

Hearing about the popularity of the latest Avengers Movie entitled, "Avengers: Infinity War," I decided to ask for recommendations to some of my colleagues where to watch it. A lot answered, "Hoyts" in Wairau Park. Obediently, I research on it and went there the following day to try the movie house with Ronald. The place is located at 15 Link Drive, Wairau Valley, Auckland. Hoyts in Wairau Park There is a car park in the area so you don't have to worry where to park. Although, you have to be early because it is limited.  You have to wait for the other movie goers to leave and then take their place. The car park is free of charge. Ticket Kiosk There are ways to buy tickets. The one we did was we bought it through Vodaphone Friday Deals which costs about 11 dollars each plus booking fee. The Big Hoot 2018

Parliament of owls :) Are you dreaming of becoming a treasure hunter? If you are, then, you must do the Big Hoot Trail in Auckland. The Big Hoot Trail was created to support the Child Cancer Foundation in raising funds that will help the children who have been battling the Big C and their families. It provides awareness to the masses and give them the opportunity to get involved. At the end of the trail, all the owls will be auctioned in May 29, 2018 to raise funds to support over 1700 families who fights cancer in New Zealand. The Trail Map was launched last March 3, 2018 and will have its ending day (fly away day) at May 6, 2018. Each owl was like a treasure waiting to be unlocked. One day I saw a white dove flying, soaring to the sky It dances against the wind of time just to reach Mt. Olympus… her palace! Other gray doves wanted to accompany her but she always commented with deep conviction,  “No and I’m sorry for I can’t afford distractions at this time of the day. When Ticket Master announced Niall Horan is coming to Auckland, I was intrigued. I know that he is part of One Direction before but I was more of a Backstreet Boy Fan...age-related. But when his ticket was put on special I said I better buy it since Ronald and I like his song, "Slow Hands." 🎫 Weeks before his much awaited concert, I asked my co-worker to swap our shift so I can see his concert.
